Saves you money

One of the biggest reasons to buy and use Disney Gift cards is because of the savings. You can buy Disney Gift Cards ahead of time with the Target RedCard or from wholesale stores like Costco, Sam’s Club, or Bj’s Wholesale Club for a 3-5% discount. I know that doesn’t sound like much., but you can use a Disney Gift Card to pay off your Disney Resort Hotel balance. If your room and ticket balance is several thousands of dollars, keep in mind that for every $1,000 you spend, you’ll save $50. So $5,000 in gift cards can save you $250!

**PLEASE NOTE: If you are purchasing your tickets through an authorized Disney ticket reseller or purchasing Military discounted tickets from Shades of Green or an MWR/ITT ticketing office, you CANNOT pay for them with a Disney Gift Card. You can only pay for your tickets with a Disney Gift Card if you are purchasing your tickets directly from Disney.

Stay on budget

Disney Gift Cards can be used almost everywhere within the Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort. Using a Disney Gift Card IN the parks is an easy way to stick to your budget because you can quickly find out exactly how much you’ve spent and/or how much you have left. This includes gratuities at Table Service locations.

If you go to disneygiftcard.com, you can combine gift cards up to $1,000. I find this really helpful at the beginning of our trip. I’ll add all our cards to my disneygiftcard.com account. I designate one card as my “main card” (write on the back with a sharpie so I don’t forget) and keep that one in my wallet. Then I combine a couple of cards and I’ll continue to combine additional cards as our trip goes on, or as our funds are getting low. You can also combine a physical gift card with an e-gift card.

Convenience

If you are staying at a non-Disney owned hotel or choose not to use a MagicBand, using a Disney Gift Card is a quick and easy way to pay.

You can link a Disney Gift Card to your My Disney Experience mobile account but you CAN’T set it as your preferred payment method for Mobile Order or Mobile Checkout. For ease, save your main gift card’s information in your phones notes so you can copy & paste it when using it to pay for things on the app.

Again, having bought a Disney Gift Card ahead of time with the 3-5% discount, this will not only be convenient, but you’ll have saved yourself a little bit of money you otherwise would not have.

Disney Gift Card Wristlet

If you are in EPCOT and planning to eat at many of the Outdoor Kitchens in the World Showcase. Pick up one of the wristlet gift cards at Port of Entry, Disney Traders, or World Travelers. This allows you to set your budget for snacks and drinks, so you can quickly know how much you have left to spend after each purchase. The wristlet gift card is super convenient because you don’t have to dig into your bag or wallet to get your credit card.
Also, once you have the wristlet, you can combine it with other gift cards or reload it. That way you continue to take advantage of the convenience of it.
