Planning a trip to Disney can be very overwhelming. But that’s why you’re here, right?
Believe it or not, there is a right and wrong way to take a Disney vacation. KIDDING! But there is a way to ruin a Disney vacation and that’s by poor planning. The first mistake you can make and ensure you’ll have a bad time at Disney, is to assume it’s like any other theme park… it’s not!
I never like hearing that someone had a bad Disney vacation so that’s why I’ve made it my mission to help others understand how to plan the most magical trip ever. It goes without saying that these tips are my personal opinions and you or someone else may have a different way, and that is completely fine with me. All I hope for is that you have the Best Day Ever, every time you are in the parks.
So here is my quick guide when planning a trip to
Walt Disney World
1. Hotel
- Location, location, location
2. Park tickets / Length of Stay
- Ticket options: 1 Park Per Day, Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus
- Are you planning on a resort day during your stay?
- Do you plan on going to a Water Park or Sports locations?
3. Make your Reservations
- Theme Park Reservations
- A park reservation is required; after purchasing park tickets, for the days you would like to visit the parks
- Advance Dining Reservations
- Secure those hard-to-get dining reservations
4. Extras
- Memory Maker
- Hard tickets events or After Hours events (Disney After Hours Boo Bash & Disney Very Merriest After Hours)
- Savi’s Workshop & The Droid Depot
- Disney Genie+
- Familiarize yourself with the different modes of transportation for getting to/from the parks and when park hopping

Oh keeper of all Disney knowledge. We are taking Grayson to Disney this summer for his Bday. We already have our tickets, park reserved, and wrist bands ordered. Its been a few years since we’ve have last been to Disney. This will be Graysons first time going and Arias second. What are the current mask mandates at the park?? I plan on making everyone have their masks attached to a lanyard for those moments they have it off so they dont get lost or I get stuck storing them in a bag and my other question is… do they still have nightly Fireworks or have they gotten rid of them due to covid. I know their parades have been removed to the random character walk abouts. But I havent seen anything about the nightly performances. I figured before I go perusing google I would ask yall since you just got back last month.
That is a great idea for your masks! Not having to worry about where to place it when you take it off is very smart. Disney recently changed their mask policy to that you must wear a mask even in restaurants unless you are actively eating or drinking. I’m not sure how much this is enforced because I read a few reviews that said as long as you had food or drinks in front of you, you weren’t asked to put them back on. So you’ll have to see.
As far as fireworks and nighttime shows, they are currently paused because of COVID. They are testing fireworks and working on the new barge in Epcot so I’m hopeful they will return soon.
