What to do on your Break Day at Walt Disney World?

There are many things you can do at Walt Disney World outside of the parks. If you’re someone who is still undecided on whether or not you want to take a break day, break days are a great way to step away from the parks and the crowds, maybe save a little money on one less park day ticket, but still enjoy the “Disney Bubble”.

Some activities are free, especially if you’re just walking around, and exploring other resorts. But, there are a handful of activities at the Disney Resort Hotels that are free. Remember that window shopping and riding Disney Transportation are always free.

The rest of the things to do on your break day are paid activities but not all are super expensive and if you budget for them, shouldn’t break the bank.

What is Resort Hopping?

Resort Hopping is the act of visiting one or more Disney Resort Hotels, outside of the one you’re staying at, during your Disney trip. Whether you’re heading to another resort for a dining reservation, grabbing a snack/drink from a Quick Service restaurant or Lounge, wanting to explore another resort to take advantage of activities, looking at the decorations, or taking in the overall ambiance, resort hopping is just that.

Who can Resort Hop?

Anyone can. Disney Resort Hotels are completely open to the public. You do not need to be a guest of a resort to walk around, shop, or dine at a Disney Resort Hotel.

Some resorts (especially those on the Monorail Loop or Disney Skyliner) will require you to have a dining reservation if you are driving your own car and need to park at the resort.

Resort Hop to dine with characters at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, or Four Seasons Resort Orlando.

Go to Disney Springs

Disney Springs is a large outdoor mall that has a LOT of options and is completely free to visit. If you’re looking for somewhere to go to spend the entire day, Disney Springs is the place. And even if you’re only looking for something to do for part of the day, Disney Springs is still a great option,

At Disney Springs, eat at OVER 65 dining locations, you can window shop at plenty of different stores, watch live entertainment, and pin trade. You can also go bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, catch a movie at the AMC Theatre, watch a Cirque du Soleil® show, ride in a vintage Amphicar, or soar in the sky on the world’s largest hand-painted helium balloon.

Visit The Campgrounds

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds has a lot of different recreational activities. Including a couple of different dining locations, it is a great place to spend your break day if you’re looking to resort hop to a different resort.

Unwind at the pool

Spend the day relaxing in the Florida sun. Let kids enjoy fun activities each day, like themed pool parties, pool games, relays, and trivia. Many of the pools on Disney property have multiple pools, splash pads, and water slides. Spend all day at the pool with food and drinks from the poolside dining locations that at the Disney Resort Hotel pool bar.
